Instructional Design Methodology
Evaluate Materials and Revise As Needed

Methodology | Risks | Application Tips

Control and Evaluation Risks

  • The learner performance data will be ignored or distorted during the analysis process.

There can be a danger that those intimately involved in the course development and conduct will distort the analysis of the data along their own bias. This can be avoided by having disinterested third parties do the analysis.

  • External evaluation will be neglected or delayed until the outcomes can no longer be attributed to the instruction.

While it is reassuring to know that the students can perform on the job, if that assessment is taken too long after the student has been on the job, the performance could be a result of learning from others on the job. Therefore, on-the-job assessments should be scheduled immediately after the student arrives at the job.

  • Revisions will be postponed due to budget constraints or lack of planning.

You should allot budget and resources to the revision effort.
