Ken Seamon and Joan James

World Trade Center Dubai

Gitex Technology Week Exhibition in Dubai is a major technology exhibition for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia regions, with companies from around the world attending and presenting. The exhibition main areas were:

  • Telecommunications
  • Networks and Security
  • Office Technology and Supplies
  • Consumer Electronics

Google at Gitex Expo

We spent four days at the exhibition and probably only saw about half of what was there. It was huge! With approximately 1000 exhibiting companies, there was a diverse range of products and services presented, including e-Learning products and services.

The most impressive of the e-Learning solutions came from Korea. Korea has an good track record with online education, and the adoption of Instructional Design methodology. Their love and use of their own products has given them the confidence to expand their market. Korean e-Learning companies seem to have ticked all of the important benchmarks for promoting their expertise to the world. E-Learing companies work with the Korean government in a Korean e-Learning enterprise that addresses e-Learning for corporations, schools, government, and ordinary citizens. In general, this is what they do:

  • assess the global conditions of the e-learning industry
  • establish policy research for the promotion of the e-Learning industry
  • establish localization strategies for penetrating into priority target countries
  • construct consolidated plans (among e-Learning companies) for oversea expansions
  • provide overseas marketing support for e-Learning enterprises
  • develop e-Learning promotion businesses
  • develop next-generation e-Learning integration technology for object based intelligent management of learning
  • nurture e-Learning personnel
  • produce SCORM compliant courseware, courseware development products, and LMS (learning management systems)
  • create e-Learning content sharing and distribution systems
  • develop and distribute specialized e-Learning content by industry type
  • develop and adhere to e-Learning standards
  • provide e-Learning quality certification

While Korea continues to grow its own e-Learning capabilities, it adds to the skills of others around the world. For more information about the products and services of Korean eLearning companies and organizations follow these links. Most will have an ENGLISH button near the top of the home page.
